Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan want to combine their energy systems
The parties signed the relevant document.Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan have signed a Memorandum of cooperation on the unification of the energy systems of the three countries. This is reported by Interfax.
As specified, the document was signed following the meeting of the Ministers of Economy and energy of the three countries in Tashkent on May 1.
The implementation of this document will allow the three parties to cooperate in the production of "green" energy and the organization of its export through Azerbaijan to Europe, to ensure the integration of energy systems and the efficient use of renewable energy sources," said Azerbaijani Economy Minister Mikail Jabbarov.
The participants will explore the possibilities of connecting power systems by laying a high-voltage cable along the bottom of the Caspian Sea.
As part of the terms of reference, a proposed business model will be developed for the development of international transmission corridors and for the sale of "green" energy to the countries of the European Union. Based on the above, a draft memorandum of cooperation on the interconnection of the energy systems of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan was worked out between the Ministries of Energy of the three countries, Kazakh Energy Minister Almasadam Satkaliyev said.
To date, the basic approaches for the implementation of this project have been discussed and agreed upon.
