Russia and Uzbekistan are at the final stage of signing a nuclear power plant agreement
The construction of the station is planned on the territory of the Jizzakh region near Lake Tuskan
General Director of the Rosatom state corporation Alexey Likhachev announced at the Primakov Readings forum that work on the contract for the construction of a nuclear power plant (NPP) in Uzbekistan is nearing completion.
In 2019, in our understanding, we reached all the major decisions. The pandemic has stopped many processes, but I cannot call the Uzbek project a stopped project. Work on the contract for the construction of a nuclear power plant is at the final stage, the head of Rosatom said, adding that the development of the project continues.
Additional initiatives have been proposed covering aspects of low power and staff training. The contract preparation process is proceeding at full speed, and according to Likhachev’s statement, it can be argued that the parties are approaching the moment of its signing.
It should be noted that in 2018, Tashkent and Moscow entered into an agreement on the construction of a nuclear power plant. The station is planned to be built on a site near Lake Tuskan in the Jizzakh region.
