“Green” energy generation in Uzbekistan since the beginning of the year amounted to 1 billion kWh

Since the beginning of 2026, the volume of electricity generated by solar and wind power plants reached 1 billion kWh, reported the press service of the Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan.

Compared to the same period in 2025, production increased by 400 million kWh, or 40%.

Uzbekistan operates 15 solar photovoltaic stations and 5 wind power plants with a total installed capacity of 5582 MW.

Since the beginning of the year, solar photovoltaic stations have generated 396 million kWh, and wind power plants – 604 million kWh.

The increase in production saved 267 million cubic meters of natural gas and prevented the emission of more than 575 thousand tons of harmful substances into the atmosphere, the report says.

Together with hydroelectric power plants, total electricity production reached 1.57 billion kWh. This saved 400 million cubic meters of natural gas and avoided emissions of over 863 thousand tons of harmful substances. According to the ministry, this volume corresponds to the average monthly consumption of 5 million households or the annual consumption of 625 thousand households.

According to the Ministry of Energy, in 2022, solar plants in Navoi and Samarkand regions produced 434 million kWh, in 2023 – 576.9 million kWh. In 2024, 9 solar and 1 wind power plants generated 4.86 billion kWh. In 2025, the total output of all solar and wind plants reached 10.5 billion kWh, and total electricity production amounted to 86.7 billion kWh.

Energy Minister Zhurabek Mirzamahmudov previously noted that the commissioning of new energy capacities allowed Uzbekistan to become a net exporter of electricity in 2025.
