Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan will accelerate geological exploration on the Ustyurt investment blocks

The Ministers of Energy of Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan, Sherzod Khodjaev and Parviz Shahbazov, signed in Baku a roadmap for expanding cooperation in the energy sector for 2026-2028. The document is aimed at developing joint projects and strengthening bilateral partnership.

The roadmap provides for the implementation of the "Green Energy Corridor Central Asia — Azerbaijan" project. The Ministry of Energy of Azerbaijan emphasized that the energy routes being developed by the country through the Black Sea and toward Turkey will help form a large-scale corridor for transmitting green electricity from Central Asia to Europe.

During the meeting, the sides discussed cooperation in the fields of renewable energy sources, geological exploration, and supplies of oil and petroleum products. The document also includes points on exchanging experience in thermal power engineering and energy efficiency. The importance of mutual investments for fulfilling the tasks set by the heads of the two states was noted.

On the same day, Sherzod Khodjaev and the Minister of Investments, Industry and Trade of Uzbekistan, Laziz Kudratov held talks with the president of SOCAR, Rovshan Najaf. The participants of the meeting reviewed plans to expand SOCAR`s network of gas stations in Uzbekistan and accelerate geological exploration work on the Ustyurt investment blocks.

The talks raised issues of creating new oil refining capacities and organizing imports of crude oil. The sides analyzed the current pace of project implementation and outlined steps for the prompt resolution of emerging issues and the effective fulfillment of the agreements reached.

Recall that "Uzbekneftegaz" and SOCAR will create a network of modern gas stations in Uzbekistan.
