Russia to join unified energy system of Central Asian countries

Uzbekistan, Tashkent – Podrobno.uz News Agency. The Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan and Russia have agreed to join the Russian "System Operator of the Unified Energy System" to the Unified Energy System (UES) of Central Asia.

According to Russian Energy Minister Sergei Tsivilev, this initiative is related to the commercial export of electricity and the management of flows between countries, which will allow for the prompt balancing of energy systems in the event of a deficit, natural factors and high loads.

"Today there was a joint statement by the two ministries with a request to support a quick solution. There is a separate energy system of Central Asia, which we are not yet a part of. But [the "System Operator"] must join in order to jointly manage the unified energy system of Central Asia, we are connected to it. The Uzbek side fully supports this. We will do this in the near future," Tsivilev said.

His colleague, the Minister of Energy of Uzbekistan, Jurabek Mirzamakhmudov, noted that integration will allow “quickly supporting the needs of countries with flows” in emergency situations, and it is also important to properly ensure the security of the system.
